Oakland is a borough in Bergen County, NJ with a population of approximately 13,021 people. It was incorporated as a borough in 1902 by and act of the New Jersey Legislature. The name Oakland comes from the numerous white oak trees in the area. Oakland borders on the Bergen County towns of Franklin Lakes and Mahwah.
