Why Have A Pool Inspected?
There are still many weeks of swimming pool enjoyment left this season. If you are in the process of purchasing a home with a swimming pool, it is important to have the pool inspected by a qualified pool inspector. In order to fully enjoy a pool, you want to know that the pool and spa (if included) are in good working order. Most home inspections do not include this service, but a pool inspection provides information that helps you make an informed decision prior to any property purchase. Pool and spa inspections are essential.
What Is Included in a Pool Inspection?
A pool inspection should include an evaluation of the following:
- gates and fences, ladders, railings, diving boards, slides – and spa
- pump equipment including motors, filters, heaters, chlorinators, pressure and drains
- the deck and coping surrounding the pool
- the inside surface of the pool, liners, edging, skimmers
- water quality
- electrical equipment
A pool must be open and in operation to perform a proper inspection. The report would be limited and possibly inaccurate if the pool is not open for examination. You should also know that NJ Pool Inspector only inspects pools – we do not do repairs or replacements. This gives us no motivation to find anything but the facts during an inspection. In other words, there is no “conflict of interest”.
