Swimming Pools and Covid-19

Is It Safe To Swim in a Pool During Covid-19?

NJ Pool InspectorSummer is fast approaching and we all want to be able to enjoy the pleasures of warm weather. The question of whether it’s safe to use a swimming pool this summer is on everyone’s mind. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “there is no evidence that Covid-19 can spread to people through the water in pools. Proper operation and disinfection of pools should kill the virus that causes Covid-19“.  NJ Pool Inspector advises  inspection of swimming pools and spas, to make sure yours is properly disinfected and Covid-19 preventions are in effect.

Proper Precautions Should Still Be In Place

Although the CDC says the water in your pool is safe, that doesn’t mean you can relax other important precautions regarding Covid-19. Social distancing is still in effect and that means you should limit the number of people using the pool at any given time. You should also avoid gatherings and groups of people, so no pool parties.

Maintaining your pool is more important than ever during this time of Covid-19. Check on the status of your pool’s chlorine levels more than usual. It is also a good idea to have a pool inspection before opening up for the season.
